I am a PhD candidate at the University of Madeira, where I conduct research on how community generated content (such as Twitter status updates) can be leveraged to improve situational awareness in large-scale crises. My PhD centers on the design and development of CrisisTracker, a tool for collaborative social media analysis in disaster response.
My primary research interests include data mining, crowdsourcing and information visualization.
I hold a MSc in Media Technology and Engineering from the University of Linköping, Sweden. Before joining M-ITI, I worked with business intelligence, statistical modeling and other software development for financial and fuel sector companies, as well as in academia.
